capturing light and shadow
@gramparents
A popular Instagram page dedicated towards the art of street photography, focusing upon the older generation. The specific focus provides a gentle insight to the nostalgic quaintness “grandparents” carry.
The page displays a variety of how “old” presents itself and portrays quirky and unique photos of this generation who have experienced more of life. It is a celebration of a retired state that exudes a relaxedness that is warm and endearing. The pictures range from spotting couples, as I have, together in a cohesive colour palette. To the ironically cool and trendy dressed geriatric men and women. The irony being that it is this generation, far removed from trends the gen-y/z experience , also partake in it adding to the richness of internet culture.
When photographing this couple, in Kyoto Garden, London, spotting this couple walking in unison amongst the foliage and multiple greeness. I felt compelled to capture this brief moment, appreciating it from afar. After submitting it to @gramparents I saw my perspective in a collage of other views of these specific category of persons. It is a subject I enjoy and hope to find these unexpected moments of beauty, how people fall into place in the centre of a picture without knowing.

Skin and Sun by Key Ballah - Inspired Photos
This shoot was inspired by a series of poems written by Key Ballah. The poems show POC women as being strong but also invites us to experience the sensuality and sensitivity of being a brown woman. The photos are centred around three quotes. “We grew to be women”, “women are water” and “your melanin isn’t quiet”. These quotes allowed for a collaboration between the model and I to have a striking colour pallet against an urban background. The contrast of both displays the softness of femininity against a harsh reality.
fleeting memories

Manifesto for the Defiant Mind.
A video based on the emergence of manifestos created during the modernism era of writing. Modernism was a movement founded in the late 19th century and early 20th century. It was a reaction to the conservative and historic traditionalism displayed in the 19th century. Rejecting past forms of art, architecture, literature, religious faith, social organisation and daily life. Modernism saw the creation of differing ideas on how to experience life and followed certain manifestos on how to succeed in this new life.
In response to the birth of modernist manifestos, I created my own version in a video format. The use of using video as a medium was to portray its relevance to a multi-media age and therefore hoping for better exposure of this manifesto. The short film shows contrasts of life and death, darkness and light to show how to deter away from these struggles. The film is intended to inspire reflection on current society and its general tendency towards apathy, in order to form a revolution against this ignorance.
